Filming

I have now completed recording my scenes and I plan to go on the computers tomorrow to develop my editing and joining the separate takes together and deleting the outtakes.
The filming last night went extremely well, except a few hiccups for example the shirt Damien wore in the film was covered in the blood which had stained onto it, therefore we had to improvise with a similar shirt and hopefully when editing the audience will not be able to see a difference between them. Another set back is that my actor lost one prop, being her ring, which is rather significant in the second half of the half, however I believe that if I kept the camera away from her hands, then no one in the audience would get the chance to notice to discontinuity, One more problem we had was when Bethany was meant to hear a noise coming from downstairs; I wanted to shoot her jumping under the bed swiftly, however we managed to pass this obstacle. To achieve this I put a friend under the bed on the other side and out of the camera shot, and when Bethany was partly under the bed, my friend pulled her under in a way that made it look like she was getting under quickly and easily.

So far

I have begun editing the part of the film I have recorded and so far it is going really well.
I have booked out the HD camera and have all my actors prepared to come to my house after college today for the shoot of the 1st part of the film; including Bethany's murder. I also need to create a usable soundtrack for my film for the diegetic noise of Bethany screaming and Damien listening to music whilst cleaning up the mess.
As with the 1st part of the film being filmed, there is a bit it of dialogue in it when Bethany is speaking to her mum, therefore I will have to prep my actor with her lines and make sure she makes it look realistic.
I will also need to make sure that the camera will fit in certain positions as, for the small rooms and medium shots needed, I will have to make sure the shot I want can be captured successfully.

First day of filming

November 16th

I did my first bit of filming and collected all of my actors together at my house and filmed the second half of the film along with the outside scenes as I wasn't sure how the weather would change during the christmas period.
I made sure I had all my props including the blood, Damiens knife and bag etc, and starting in my house I managed to get them in their costumes within 15 minutes. As I had fake blood and it needed to be on the laminate floor, I had to do a quick test with a little blob on the floor to make sure it wouldn't stain and once I know it wouldnt make a mark I began putting it on Holly(Bethany)'s arm and on the floor to create the illusioon that its been dripping on the floor. I also placed the blood on George(Damien)'s shirt. To make this more realistic, I put alot of blood on my hands and grabbed his shirt in places where I may grab if someone was attacking me.
Filming went really well and we managed to get all my shots needed, both inside and outside the house. All the shots also linked really well with each other except in one shot where George(Damien) was holding the pictures of Bethany however in the one particular shot he wasn't holding it so when I film the first half I am going to have re-shoot it so that he has the pictures as to keep the continuty strong.

Taken [2008] - The kidnap scene clip

Watch from 2:19 - 3:09

I plan to use the camera angles used between these times when the daughter in this film is about to be kidnapped. I felt when watching this particular scene that, with the camera angles used and the limitation of what you can see of the kidnappers; it gave me more freedom to imagine what they looked like, which was a lot scarier then they actually were when we saw who they were later on in the film.
I plan to copy certain aspects of this particular scene by using the angles Pierre Morel [Director] uses and the fact you can't see the hit man's face.

However I plan on hiding Damien's [my hit man] top half of his body until he is in the bedroom, and this will be from Bethany's [the little girl] point of view from under the bed. When Damien hears her from under the bed, he will jump into view when he bobs down that will skip to a blackout.
This should enforce shock on the audience.

Props

As my film is based on a hit man; I have chosen to make it more effective by adding shots of Bethany as if she has been stalked for the past week; making it more understandable why he's killing her. Also, the audience will also be able to see that he has been 'told' to do it; therefore he is able to have the guilty feeling.
Unfortunately the only pictures that came out were when I made her look back; therefore could have looked better if there were some that were of her walking normally. But as the audience will only to get to see one or two of them I am not too worried about it.
This shot was taken in a graveyard in Kirk Ella, as you can just see by the grave stone in the left side. I have used this area to create the comparison between the little girl and the typically scary graveyard she is walking around. However in this case, Bethany should be weary of the graveyard as this is where the stalker is, therefore portraying her innocence with a more extreme manner.

This straight shot is of her walking along a house on her way home, I have kept all the pictures at the straight shot as to perceive the idea that the hit man is equal to her, therefore Damien can seem more like a human being and can have a guilty conscience after the event.

I made them all to be medium shots as to create the look that the person taking the pictures was hiding somewhere, yet was getting close enough to get the details of Bethany which could be seen as quite uncomfortable as you can see how close he has gotten to her without her noticing.

Costumes

Bethany

In the photos she will be wearing quite a childish top as it is green with a tree on it. Along with her hair in bunches and a bow in her hair.
I will also be using minimalistic/ natural makeup as to all add to the look of a little girl.

Whilst she is at home and about to be murdered, she will be wearing
After she has been murdered and is seeking revenge; she will have the same clothes she was murdered in on. However, her bunches will be wonky, her face will be a dull grey with blood on her face and black around her eyes as to create the look of death and coldness.

Damien

Will wear a white top underneath a blue shirt, as when the shirt gets covered in blood; he will casually take off the shirt and shove it in the bag with all of his things. This gives the impression that he is a normal man and the casualty of her murder could have an impact on his conscience.

The Hitman's Boss

The boss will wear a black suit with a black shirt and black tie; as to give the impression that he is a part of the shadows and doesn't want to be seen. He will also wear a trilby as to hide his face to give the look of a 30's mobster; this will also be used as to hide most of his face from the audience, to make him look more sinister.

Here is an example of a 30s mobster.
